Getting 17″ display replaced at Apple

The battery on my 17″ MBP went kaput. The whole thing would crash at 40%. Very frustrating. I took it to the Apple store and apparently batteries aren’t covered by AppleCare after the 12month warranty. Which seems pretty bogus, but I paid the $130 for a new one anyway.
On the other hand, the screen on this thing is completely shot. Scratches, clouds, general badness. I mentioned it to the “Genius” and they’re going to replace it free of charge. Which saves me in the neighborhood of $600.
All in all a net gain of $470. I’m not complaining.
